Top Planks are 1'' thick and they are hold together with 3/8'' plywood strips
These tiles where design for rental purposes and design to be use short term but they can be use long term outdoor.
You can lay the tiles flat on the ground if well drained but typically they are made to be fix to a wood sub structure as the 3/8'' plywood are non structural.
You can use these tiles with the DTG-Lumber Joist Adjustable Pedestal Supports.
